Community PC Literacy Meeting Held
at Knowledge Hook-Up
On Thursday, July 6th, a diverse, talented and positive group of
people met at the Knowledge Hook-Up® computer lab to discuss
working with the community to offer PC literacy. Attending the
meeting were Alderman John Pope with his assistant Victor
Carreon; Jose Chavez, the President of the East Side Chamber
of Commerce; Bruce Montgomery, SimChicago/BDPA; Don
Samuelson, urban developer; Michael Maranda, President of
ilCTC/Get Illinois Online; Barbara Iverson, Columbia College
Internet Newsletter; Dinah Ramirez and Elizabeth Echols from
Healthy South Chicago/OJO's; Isabel Martinez, Immigration
Attorney; and 8 representatives from Knowledge Hook-Up —
Joann and Kevin Murphy, Jim Olson, Rita Alvarez, Kathy
Fitzgerald, Larry Dunn, Devonna Antoniewicz, and Patty Fisher,
KHU Director of Development.


Thank you all for your contribution and hard work.

KHU is providing a center for computer training and is working
diligently with community leaders to improve community education
and awareness.

KHU Videotaped for National CTCNet Conference
in Washington, D.C.
Patty Fisher, KHU Director of Development; Gaston Armour,
IL Department of Human Services; Connie Howard, State Rep.;
Hannah from Alderman Pope's office; and Ray Brown and Edith
Padilla from Gallistel Elementary, attended a videotaping at the
KHU computer lab to be shown in Washington D.C. during the
Community Technology Centers of America conference,
July 27-29. Andrew Pincon, from Digibridge.org, did the filming
and editing and will present this film along with footage of Gallistel
Elementary School and the new Pembroke Technology Center.
